During my pregnancy, I ate things like muffins, cake and ice cream and ended up gaining 65 lbs. Then, after my daughter was born, the weight didn't melt away like I thought it would. I actually ended up putting on more.
And that wasn't the only problem. I had constant headaches and developed head-to-toe eczema. I was so tired that I spent most of my spare time on the couch. My marriage was floundering (not because of the weight, but the extra stress sure didn't help me feel any better). In the end, my marriage didn't last but that's a whole other story.
They all failed for so many reasons. Even though I was desperate to change things.
I was too busy and overwhelmed to stick to them.
They were too restrictive, and I consistently felt deprived, lethargic, and cranky.
The deprivation made me go nuts on the weekend, and I would eat all kinds of things.
Overexercising caused injuries and exhaustion.
I felt like I was not succeeding at anything, which led to a vicious cycle of eating crap and feeling terrible.
Probably the worst thing was that I was a personal trainer. How were my clients going to trust me to help them reach their goals when I couldn't even do it for myself? Was I going to have to add finding a new career to my list of problems??
I figured out a way to make healthy eating easy, enjoyable and effective for my body type that everything changed. I lost the extra weight, toned up, and started to feel like myself again. I've maintained that weight loss and improved my strength, energy and health ever since. And I never feel deprived or like I'm missing out.
When I take my daughter out to breakfast, I can have the pancakes or the French toast without feeling guilty. Imagine being able to treat yourself without feeling like you ruined all your progress. That's the power of a smarter approach to nutrition and fitness.
Now helping other women achieve the same thing is why I get up in the morning.
It took me months of experimentation and research to finally figure out a system that worked for me. Now one of my favorite things to do is nerd out on nutrition science, habit creation, and test all kinds of recipes. However, that doesn't have to be you. When I started working with other women, I was blown away by the results they were getting in so little time. That's why I made it my mission to help as many women as possible take control of their nutrition and health without all the guesswork, frustration and overwhelm that came with my journey.
