How Do I Get To A Healthy Weight And Stay There? | Weight Loss For Women

One of the top questions I get as a health and fitness coach is, “how do I get to a healthy weight and stay there?” When it comes to weight loss for women, losing weight is only half the battle. Maintaining a healthy weight is the real challenge. Luckily, this process doesn’t have to be daunting and full of deprivation. Instead, it can actually be fun and exhilarating as you learn how to fuel your body with the right macros and high energy foods and find workouts that strengthen your body (that you actually enjoy!). Read on to learn how to lose weight, feel comfortable in your skin, and maintain it long-term!

How Do I Lose Weight And Keep It Off?

In the Fuel For Fat Loss weight loss program for women, some of my clients are losing 6-10 pounds in 30 days! Not only are they releasing those unwanted pounds, but they are increasing their energy levels, eliminating cravings, and sleeping better.

So how are they doing it?

It all comes down to healing your body from the inside out. The foods you eat directly affect the way that your body operates and functions day-to-day.

This process of healing and detoxing is so important if you find yourself struggling with:

  • Low energy.

  • Hormone shifts.

  • Cravings.

  • Brain fog.

  • PMS symptoms.

3 Tips For Weight Loss For Women

If you’re looking to achieve a healthy weight and feel better from the inside out, here are a few helpful tips to help you achieve amazing results and maintain them long-term.

Tip #1: Stop Under-Eating.

When you under-eat, your body enters into starvation mode, which can actually cause you to gain weight. I know it seems a little backwards, but it’s true! When your body doesn’t have the nutrients and energy it needs to carry you through the day, your metabolism starts to slow down, cravings go through the roof, and weight loss halts.

Instead of under-eating, focus on eating the proper number of calories that your body needs to function optimally and bring your body out of starvation mode! Eat quality calories and balanced macros to ensure you are getting all the nutrients your body needs to thrive. When you eat the right amount of calories for your body, you will see a boost in your metabolism and a decrease in cravings. That all leads to faster weight loss and long-term results!

Tip #2: Log Everything You Eat.

The foods you consume are the most important aspect of weight loss for women. Don’t deprive yourself of the foods you love on your weight loss journey, but don’t cheat yourself either.

While it might seem harmless, that one cookie here and there, nibbling on your kiddo’s fish crackers, and extra spoonfuls of peanut butter does add up. When you stick to a plan and log ALL of your food, every single day, it has a profound effect on your overall fat loss. If you know you’re going to log everything you eat, you’ll be less likely to sneak in those unnecessary treats and snacks throughout the day.

Tip #3: Weigh In Weekly - With NO Emotion!

I know this tip can sound a little scary. However, I want to help you shift your mindset around the scale. The scale is NOT there to make you feel bad about your body or shame yourself. It is a helpful tool (emphasis on the word TOOL), especially in the beginning stages of your weight loss journey. It’s there to provide information to guide you as you make your way to your goal weight.

However, the scale is not the only tool you need to track your progress. Take pictures and measurements as well so you can see the results taking form. You may not see a difference on the scale after awhile, but it’s important to look at the results you’re seeing and feeling in other areas. Your measurements may be decreasing as your body is toning. Perhaps your mood has improved, along with your sleep. Maybe you’re not experiencing cravings anymore and have begun to enjoy cooking healthy meals. These are all wins from living a healthier lifestyle! So don’t forget to celebrate those NSV’s (non-scale victories!).

As you’re working towards your weight loss goals, it’s important to always ask yourself this BIG question around food… “Does this food serve me? Is it nourishing my body?”

If we FUEL our bodies properly and do these 3 things above consistently, we will reap the benefits, not just on the scale and in our weight loss, but in our overall health and happiness, too!
